Privacy Policy
Last updated November 5, 2026
Barkyard Dog LLC ("Barkyard", "we", "us") makes Barkyard, software that dog daycares and boarding kennels use to run bookings, check-in and billing. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers the Barkyard app and this website (barkyardhq.com).
Who is responsible for your information
How we handle your information depends on how you use Barkyard:
- Families and pet owners. If you use Barkyard to book with a daycare, that daycare decides what information it collects about you and your dogs and how it uses it. We hold and process that information for the daycare, under our agreement with them. The daycare's own privacy practices apply as well as this policy. For questions about your daycare's records, contact the daycare first.
- Daycare owners and staff. We are responsible for your account information and for the information we use to bill your business.
- Website visitors. We are responsible for what you send us through this website, such as an early access request.
Information we collect
Account information
Your name, email address and, if you add one, phone number. We sign you in with a one-time link or code sent to your email, so we don't store a password for you.
Daycare business information
For daycare customers: business name, contact email and phone, the services, prices and policies you set up, your team members and their roles, and the ID of your Stripe account.
Household and dog information
Families, or the daycare on a family's behalf, can add:
- household members and their contact details;
- each dog's name, breed, sex, birth date, weight and photo;
- feeding, medication and behavior notes;
- emergency contact and veterinarian details. If you add someone else's contact details, please make sure they're happy for you to share them;
- vaccination records, including the documents or photos you upload as proof;
- the daycare's agreement or waiver and your signature on it (the name you type and the date and time you signed).
Bookings and payments
Reservations, check-ins and check-outs, waitlist and trial status, credit packs, balances, invoices, deposits and refunds. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Card numbers are entered directly into Stripe's secure form and never reach our servers. We keep only the card brand, the last four digits and Stripe's reference IDs.
Messages we send
We keep a copy of the emails Barkyard sends on a daycare's behalf, such as booking reminders, invoices and vaccine expiry notices, so the daycare can see what was sent and when.
Activity and technical information
We keep a log of important actions in the app, such as who changed a booking or issued a refund, to keep billing accurate and to investigate problems. We record when you accept our terms and which version you accepted. Our hosting providers process technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and request logs to deliver and protect the service.
Early access requests
If you request early access on this website, we receive what you type into the form: your name, email address and business name, plus any optional details you add (location, number of dogs, current software, message). We also record the date and the country your request came from, based on your IP address. Your request is stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider, and sent to our inbox through our email provider, Resend. We use this information only to reply to you about Barkyard. We don't add you to a mailing list.
How we use information
- to provide Barkyard: bookings, check-in, credits, billing and calendar feeds;
- to send service emails, such as sign-in links, booking reminders, invoices, vaccine expiry notices, team invites and the daily digest for owners;
- to bill daycare customers for their Barkyard subscription;
- to keep Barkyard secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems;
- to provide support when you contact us;
- to improve Barkyard, based on how the service performs and what customers tell us;
- to comply with the law and enforce our terms.
We don't sell personal information. We don't share it with anyone for their own advertising. We don't send marketing emails to families who use Barkyard through their daycare. We don't use a daycare's customer information for any purpose other than providing the service to that daycare.
How we share information
- With your daycare. Families' and dogs' information is shared with the daycare you book with and its staff, according to their role. Each daycare sees only its own customers.
- With service providers who run parts of Barkyard for us, under contracts that limit their use of the information:
Provider What they do Google Cloud Runs the Barkyard application servers (United States) Supabase Database, sign-in and file storage (United States) Stripe Payment processing for daycares and families, and Barkyard subscription billing Resend Delivers the emails Barkyard sends, and forwards early access requests to our inbox Cloudflare Hosts and protects this website and stores early access requests - With Stripe, for payments. Each daycare takes payments through its own Stripe account. Stripe processes card payments under its own privacy policy.
- For legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Barkyard.
- In a business transfer. If Barkyard is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that deal. It will remain subject to this policy.
Cookies and browser storage
This website doesn't set cookies of its own and doesn't run analytics or advertising trackers. The Barkyard app uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember which daycare you last selected. When you enter a card, Stripe's payment form may set its own cookies to prevent fraud.
How long we keep information
- Daycare and customer records are kept while the daycare has a Barkyard subscription, so the daycare has its booking, billing and vaccination history. A daycare can archive dogs. Archived dogs are hidden from day-to-day views but stay in the daycare's records.
- After a daycare's subscription ends, the daycare has 30 days to ask for an export. We then delete its records within 90 days. The exceptions are billing records we must keep for tax and accounting, and backups, which are overwritten on their normal cycle.
- Early access requests are kept until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them to talk with you about Barkyard.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, and our providers encrypt it at rest. Each daycare's data is kept separate from every other daycare's. Access is limited by role: for example, staff can't see billing. Uploaded files are private and can be opened only through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we'll notify the affected daycare, and you where required, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- See and update your information. You can view and edit most of your household and dog details in the app. Your daycare can update the rest.
- Delete information. Families should ask their daycare, which can remove records or ask us to. Daycare owners and website visitors can email us. Some records, such as completed invoices and signed agreements, may need to be kept for the daycare's legal and accounting purposes.
- Email. Barkyard sends service emails, not marketing. If a reminder or digest isn't useful, ask your daycare or us to change it.
- State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or provided in a portable form. Email us to make a request. We'll confirm your identity, usually through the email address on your account. Where we hold the information for a daycare, we'll work with that daycare to respond. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
Barkyard is for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Where information is stored
Barkyard is offered in the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell daycare customers by email before it takes effect.
